United for Human Rights

TELL US HOW YOU WILL CELEBRATE THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE!

What is the International Day of Peace?
The International Day of Peace is observed around the world each year on 21 September. The United Nations General Assembly made it a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace among all nations and peoples.
The International Day of Peace marks not only a time to discuss how to promote and maintain peace among all people but also a 24-hour period of global ceasefire and non-violence for groups in active combat zones.
The theme for the International Day of Peace 2022 is:
End Racism. Build Peace.

What can you do?

Here are suggested activities you can do to celebrate the International Day of Peace in your community:
  • Hold a petition drive, gathering signatures to make human rights education mandatory in your zone;
  • Hold a Human Rights awareness walks in your community, with some friend and like-minded organization;
  • Visit a school or community center and give a lecture using the human rights educational materials;
  • Take our free online course at humanrights.com/course or youthforhumanrights.org/course and share the links with your friends, colleagues, and everyone you know;
  • And, if you are a teacher, have a special classroom activity for the International Day of Peace such as showing the 30 Rights: 30 Ads Public Service Announcements or The Story of Human Rights, doing a petition drive in your school, or a march.
The best and most creative International Day of Peace events will receive a special item from our offices when we receive your report and photos/videos.
There are only 8 DAYS until the International Day of Peace celebration, so register your event or activity now!

Sincerely,
The Youth & Unitedfor Human Rights Team
